Game # 6 vs Tecumseh and Essex EarlyBird Tournament
Article written by Heather Dobransky

After 6 straight days of fun filled hockey action I'm hoping none of our kids fell asleep at their desk today. On Thursday we headed out to Tecumseh to battle the Eagles on their home ice. They were our first win of the season and we ended up being theirs as well, with the Eagles defeating Windsor 3-0. Friday morning we played our first game of the Essex Earlybird Tournament playing none other than The Ravens themselves. Although Essex ended up coming out on top, winning the game 4-0, our kids showed huge improvement. The last time we played this team they defeated us with a score of 9-1!. The kids battled hard, played as a team, and made every Windsor parent in the stands proud. Later that evening the kids didn't fair as well when they played against Kensington, a team from Michigan, who clearly came to win, beating Windsor 9-2. After a bit of a rest the kids were back on the ice Saturday night and faced off against the Lasalle Sabres. Again this is a team we lost to earlier in the season with them defeating us 7-1. It was already clear by watching the  first period our kids were not going to let Lasalle rack up their tournament points that night. Windsor played like they had yet to play all season, losing to Lasalle by only one goal! The final score was 2-1.  On Sunday morning Windsor played their last tournament game against the Grimsby Peach Kings. This was the game that determined for Windsor a fourth place finish in the Earlybird tournament or a last.  If you were lucky enough to be in the stands that morning then you likely felt the excitement and joy our children were experiencing when they defeated the Peach Kings 3-1 and won their first tournament game.
I think its safe to say that The Windsor Atom Minor hockey team was successful in their first Tournament of the season. They were not Tournament Champions but they worked hard, played as a team, and showed significant improvement.
