Lil' Spitfires give back to their community
Submitted By Devan Mighton on Wednesday, January 22, 2020
On Friday, January 15, Hockey Canada lifted their moratorium on full-ice hockey for eight-year-old across the country.

To celebrate their graduation from half-ice hockey, the Windsor Jr. Spitfires and Riverside Rangers decided to do something a little extra special to mark the occasion.

Last Friday, dubbed the Outdoor Graduation Classic, the clubs held a food drive in conjunction with an outdoor hockey game at Windsor's Lanspeary Lions Rink to mark the special occasion.

Over 100 fans braved the cold as the two teams battled it out on the ice.  With a late surge, the host Spitfires pulled out a 7-4 win.  Both teams celebrated afterwards with hot chocolate and Timbits for all.

In all, the two teams collected over 300 lbs of food for the Windsor Essex Food Bank Assocation.
