"I want to be a goalie"
If your child is very interested in being a goalie next year, here is some information that may help you make your decision.

One of the main concerns of a parent with a child that wants to be a goalie, is the cost. Goalie equipment can be very expensive.  In our house league divisions only, W.M.H.A. will provide a set of pads, a blocker, a trapper, a neck shield and chest protector until they reach the age of 12. All you need to provide is a helmet(regular helmet with face shield is fine), skates, jock, neck guard and mouth guard.

When you register your child for hockey, the application will ask what position your child plays. You will indicate Goalie.  When you commit to being a goalie, it is for the entire season. If they decide that they do not want to be in the net, they can switch back to player the following year.

When you indicate that your child wants to be a goalie, the Director of Equipment will contact you before the new season begins. They will arrange a date to fit your child in their equipment. At the end of the season, all of the equipment is returned back to the Director.
