PLAYOFFS: VS WALLACEBURG
MAR. 14, 2014

This past Friday the kids saw their first game action in over 2 weeks.  Also it has been a week since they have been on the ice together.  Add the fact this was the end of the March Break week for the kids and you would expect one rusty team.

Rusty was probably an understatement.  As the game began the team looked like they had cement blocks chained to their skates.  The first two periods would be slow for Windsor and Wallaceburg would have chances but luckily for both teams their were no goals scored.

Tied at no goals a piece we all waited now for the puck to drop in the third and we had no idea at this point what was going to happen.  When you drive an hour and a half to get to a game you want to have a smile for that same drive back.

The third began and for almost the first 2 minutes it was much of the same as the other 2 periods.  But I did say almost because at 13:12 mark of the third period Windsor finally got on the board.  This would be the hammer that chiseled the rust of the kids backs.  They would go on to light the lamp 5 more times and Jack would keep the puck out as Wallaceburg also mounted a few attacks for their own.  Final score 6-0.

I will be the first to admit that driving across town twice a week since September for early evening practices was a bit of a struggle but you sure do see what it does for the kids when you start to see them play after long layoffs.  With practice yesterday and a game today the kids will be back and ready to go for a very exciting week as we face all the remaining teams to see who will earn a spot in the Day of Champions.

Lastly this game meant a lot to our goalie Jack Cullen who earned a shutout for his good friend at school Kaleb.  Kaleb is having a battle with B-cell lymphoma and is currently being treated in London.  The team wears the green ribbons on their jersey for him also and for all people affected by this crappy disease.
