Playdowns Semi Finals Game#2 Windsor 4 LaSalle1 3
The Windsor Jr Spitfires took their quest for OMHA West AE1-2 Championship to LaSalle to play game 2 of their Semi Final Series. Game one was a very exciting affair that set a precedent for the games to follow.

Without Johnny B in the building several of the Windsor parents had stepped up to lift the spirits of our little hockey players. LETS GO WINDSOR!!!! and the puck drops!

Period 1

Windsor starts of in the LaSalle zone and fire off a shot that is managed by the LaSalle goalie. Lots of back and forth play puck Windsor appears to have a slight edge in puck possession. This game does not appear to have the drama of the first encounter as it seems a bit slower. At the end of one we are tied at 0-0.

Period 2

As play continues it is Windsor controlling more. A pass from Mouawad to Muxlow and ole....well young, #21 makes his team proud. The score is 1-0. A couple of doozies were called against our boys and we are short handed, fighting off a 5 on 3. Even with a 5 on 3 it appears we are having more chances. Later Gamble races up ice has a look and finds and on-rushing #21 and zing - it's 2-0. We are starting to run away with it. But this is playdown hockey and one turn over can change everything.

That's exactly what happened. Windsor has the puck in their zone and a zig instead of a zag allows LaSalle a chance at a break. LaSalle is now back in the game. The puck drops and LaSalle is rushing in. The puck gets knocked away but is picked up by a LaSalle forward that is huge and moving fast. He rifles one hard and BOOM the puck flies off of the cross bar. Windsor turns it around and rushes the other way. Miller has it and shoots, off the LaSalle goalies pad but Reinmeitz is there with the rebound -  3-1 Windsor. What a quick turn of events! For the rest of the period it is a pretty hard fought battle but Windsor did not give up any further chances.

Period 3

Windsor starts off controlling the period again. Windsor has more chances and more puck control. A break to the net and a lightening bolt is fired off the stick of Muxlow that is gloved by the LaSalle net minder in what is definitely the save of the game. Great reflexes LaSalle goalie!!! Later, Windsor has a rare PP opportunity. They have a 5 on 3 and 2 seconds into it Muxlow wins the face off and hits Reinmeitz' stick who does not disappoint with his accuracy. 4-1. Now for the remainder of the pp Windsor applies pressure but cannot score again. LaSalle however, is just getting started. LaSalle has a chance and puts one in after a scramble. Now it is 4-2 with 10 minutes to play. LaSalle is pushing and Windsor is starting to fumble the puck after being on cruise control mode.  Another goal by LaSalle1 and it is 4-3 with 8 minutes left. Windsor has seemed to lose momentum and LaSalle1 is battling. Now we have an exciting game and it seems Windsor needs to find their groove. Windsor's big defensemen are clearing away chances but we are unable to gain offensive control. With just over 2 minutes left Windsor gets called for another infraction. LaSalle pulls their goalie and it is 6 on 4. LaSalle has the puck in the Windsor zone but cannot get off any shots. The buzzer goes and Windsor holds on to win game 2 of the series and are now up two games to none.

Lets keep it going boys!!!
