Exhibition Windsor 7 London Bandits 14
The Windsor Jr Spitfires took a long drive to London after agreeing to an exhibition game against a team with a record of 71-2 in the London Bandits.

The morning drive was a foggy one but every single one of us arrived intact and ready to go battle. After defeating the fog the next challenge was squeezing into the itsy bitsy dressing room with only enough oxygen for half the team. We out-smarted the Bandits buy breathing in timed intervals. The first half breathes in while the second half exhales and so on. The pre-game speech had to be done in the hallway as the opposing team took notes. But with all the adversity the boys were ready to rock!!

Period 1

The puck drops and it is apparent that this team is 71-2 for a reason. Crisp puck movement and speed are the Bandits hallmark. London scores their first at the 12:21 mark. They continue to pressure. This team is cycling the puck and even when the option to shoot is there they look to pass if there is a better opportunity. Our boys give chase but can't match the speed or team play of the Bandits. At the end of the first London is up 6-0.

Period 2

Windsor scores 2 goals in the first 3 minutes if the second giving us hope. London fights back scoring 4 more in the second and after 2 periods it is London 10 Windsor 2. We are slowly adapting but still behind.

Period 3

London scores just over a minute in and continue to successfully cycle the puck. Windsor hold them off for a few minutes but then they pop in another. It is now 12-2 but Windsor is not finished. They have never got down and out during a game and they were not about to start now. These boys are champions and champions do not quit. Windsor battles back to out-score their opponents 5-2 in the remainder of the period. WINDSOR WINS THE 3RD PERIOD 5-4 showing their fighting spirit, proving that they can play with this team!

It was a great way to end the game even though we fell short we showed our heart. More than ever we know that there is no situation that can break us. Our guys are a determined and driven team that have grown together over the season to become more than hockey players, more than team-mates, they are brothers in hockey!

We saw ours boys battle back, we saw them protect their goalie, we saw them scrum to support each other, we saw them take penalties to defend one another and all this demonstrates their bond. Look out Belle River - we are more than a team and we are ready!!
