Blue Water Game#21 Windsor 4 LaSalle 2
On January 2nd, 2016 the Windsor Jr Spits took on the LaSalle Sabres. The battle was significant as each team was battling each other to beat Essex for the second spot. If Windsor won then second place would be ours!! Our last match up against LaSalle in a tournament championship resulted in a great disappointment!
Period 1
The puck drops for this exciting game and Windsor immediately drives it into the LaSalle zone. Muxlow shoots one wide but LaSalle is fighting back. LaSalle has some very skilled difference makers and one of them drives down through the Windsor zone and our players are surprised and give one up. We are down 1-0. Later, Windsor fights back but a Sperdutti penalty drops our advantage. At the end of one it is LaSalle 1 Windsor 0.
Period 2
This period is back and forth with no clear advantage from either team. However, early on Windsor ties it up at 1 a piece as Lester scores off a Miller rebound. All Tied Up.
Period 3
The game is all tied up as the puck drops. Windsor and LaSalle are giving their all. Windsor is having a definite advantage in puck control and opportunities. Hotham is stopped on a break. Later, Muxlow pops one in from Hotham. 2-1 for Windsor. Now Hotham is stopped. Later Lester and then Boismier are stopped. .
The period continues and Hotham has another chance stopped. Muxlow is stopped twice. Miller is stopped. Now Knowler scores from Lester and Burns (Grif). 3-1 Windsor. Now LaSalle battle back and has a break of their own. LaSalle scores making it 3-2 as Windsor still holds the advantage. Finally, Windsor burst though the LaSalle zone and it is Muxlow securing the game with 3:35 left to play goal, assisted from Lester and Burns. With that Windsor likely will secure second place.
As the period ends WIndsor wins 4-2 and takes 2nd place in the league. Lots of positives for many teams in this league!! Now as we move forward to the playoffs we realize the need to be on the top of our game and we are!! Our goal - OMHA championship win!!! REPEAT!!
