Jr. Spits Win the Belle River Tournament!!!
Our Jr Spits found themselves in another Championship Final Tournament Game - 4 for 4 on the year. An accomplishment in itself.
Today, we faced a hungry and much improved LaSalle Gold Team. After a tough game in regulation play against Lasalle Gold, they showed our boys that they were here to play and a Team to be recond with. On any given Sunday, any team can win and the Jr Spits knew only their best would do.
The first period saw a back and forth battle. The game could go either way but at the 4:46 mark, Jakovcic nets one from Pickersgill and Conrod. Things are clicking, the kids are passing and skating both ways. A sure recipe for success.
The second period saw shots on net but nothing to show for it. The tight game continues. Passing and skating is getting full marks for the Jr Spits. The nail biter continues.
The third period, like the first two see Windsor playing a complete game. All the kids are giving their all. It finally pays off at 5:15 when Jakovcic finds the back of the net with helpers from Pickersgill and Conrod. Finally a cushion as LaSalle pours it on. Larocque is solid on the back end, steering away a couple of tough shots and the goose egg on the scoreboard continues. With no mention of the shutout, the jinx didn't have a chance. As the seconds ticked off, the final buzzer sounds with Windsor in their home Whites 2 and LaSalle 0. The celebration erupted and once again our kids got the taste of Championship Gold. A good weekend for all and something we can all be proud of!
