2025β2026 Silver Stick Finals Champions: U10 Windsor Jr. Spitfires π
2025–2026 Silver Stick Finals Champions
The U10 Windsor Jr. Spitfires delivered an unforgettable performance at the Silver Stick Finals in Newmarket, overcoming adversity both on and off the ice to be crowned Silver Stick Champions.
The journey began with a challenging road trip. What is normally a 3.5-hour drive quickly turned into nearly seven hours due to treacherous winter weather conditions. Despite the long day and unexpected obstacles, the boys handled the situation with maturity and composure — setting the tone for the weekend ahead.
Once tournament play began, the Spitfires were locked in. They navigated the round-robin stage undefeated, posting a 4-0 record and earning a spot in the semifinals on Saturday evening.
The semifinal matchup proved to be one of the most memorable games of the tournament. Facing a strong and evenly matched opponent, both teams battled relentlessly through regulation, ending the game deadlocked and forcing overtime. Just 22 seconds into overtime, the Spitfires capitalized and sealed the game-winning goal, punching their ticket to the championship final.
On Sunday morning, the Spitfires faced a familiar Blue Water rival from Windsor/Essex — Belle River. With confidence, discipline, and determination, the boys put together a dominant performance, controlling the game from start to finish and earning a 5-0 shutout victory to claim the Silver Stick Finals Championship.
This weekend was a true reflection of what this group stands for — playing the game the right way, putting in the work, trusting one another, and staying committed to the process.
Congratulations to the players, coaches, and families on an outstanding achievement
