WMHA Player Writes "Minor Hockey Mayhem"
Dear WMHA,

I’m very excited to share with you my book which has just been published; Minor Hockey Mayhem: Memorable Moments and Comical Characters We All Know and Love. It is now available on Amazon in print format, on Kobo as an ebook, and soon to be available on Apple Books and Amazon as an ebook. Minor Hockey Mayhem is a compilation of twenty comical minor hockey moments and characters that hockey enthusiasts know all too well.

I began working on this book over a year ago, and since the pandemic began I felt it was the perfect time to make a final push towards publication. I teamed up with a talented children's book illustrator, Jennica Lounsbury, and after countless hours of writing drafts and editing I was finally able to publish the finished product.

I was originally motivated to write Minor Hockey Mayhem after frequently encountering many laughable moments throughout my minor hockey experience. These moments and characters are very relatable to minor hockey players and families, so I hoped to chronicle these unforgettable experiences for others to enjoy. I was also inspired to write this book in order to use a portion of all the proceeds to help kids experience the joys and rewards of minor hockey, just like I had the opportunity to at the WMHA.  In addition, I plan on providing a number of copies of the book that WMHA can sell with 100% of the proceeds going toward the “We Love Hockey Program”.

As we all realize, the cost of registration fees and equipment makes minor hockey inaccessible for many. I truly believe this book is a fun way to reach out to minor hockey families and more importantly can help in the campaign to ensure that anyone who shares this same love for the game has a chance to enjoy it themselves. I am looking forward to partnering with WMHA’s “We Love Hockey Program”.

Sincerely,
Ziyad Emara

Club 240
Founded by the late Jimmy Hogan, inductee into the Windsor-Essex County Sports Hall of Fame in 1999. Club 240 had its beginnings in 1960, when Jimmy’s kids started playing outdoor hockey at Memorial Park. At that time the only league operating indoors was Midget; the outdoor season was limited to only 7 or 8 games, as the city didn’t allow teams to go beyond the league into the Ontario Minor Hockey Association playdowns (OMHA).
