It is with great sadness that we share the news that Charlie, our most amazing convenor for U21, passed suddenly Sunday night. Just recently, Charlie attended our volunteer banquet receiving the volunteer award for the U21 House League Division.
Two short years ago, without knowing anyone in the association, and without having children or grandchildren in WMHA, reached out wanting to give back. In the following months, he was introduced to our most senior league in WMHA, the U21 division. Charlie spent numerous hours per week enjoying being a part of our hockey community at good old Knox.
Many of you were lucky enough to have an authentic conversation with Charlie. When we spoke to his daughter, she felt it necessary to immediately reach out to the people and association that she said, "..gave him purpose" and "..he felt great pride in being a part of."
Charlie was retired, but volunteered with WMHA and worked as a groundskeeper at a local golf course in the summer. He is survived by 3 grown daughters and grandchildren that will miss him dearly. His grandsons he proudly spoke of were just getting beginning hockey and were so excited about Grandpa being a part of it.
Rest easy, Charlie. We feel privileged to have shared in your adventure.
Thanks to all of you for making Charlie feel welcome and part of our WMHA family.

Celebration will be held on Friday, Apr 21, 2023 at Rochester Place Golf Club from 2 to 4
P.S. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers to make donations to WMHA. If you are interested please email [email protected] for more information. Donations will be used to help players who need support, making hockey accessible to everyone.
