ATOM AE update - It`s a TIED series - OMHA SEMI FINALS!
What a great weekend in Orangeville.
When our boys won the Bluewater playdowns and moved onto the OMHA semi finals, we promised them a BUS ride up to our games. True to our word, the Badder Bus showed up to escort our team up the highway to Orangeville. A total of 46 kids and parents boarded the bus with Windsor pride ready for a fabulous weekend of hockey, team bonding and friendship. We left early Saturday morning and the atmosphere on the bus was spectacular! Coach Carl had everyone pumped up for a winning weekend and we all planned to represent Windsor well. The excitement was felt up the highway for the next four hours!
Our first game Saturday night didn't go exactly as planned. Orangeville came out on fire. They are a strong team with great passes and shots! They also play a little more aggressive style of hockey. Unfortunately, our team fell to them 6-2. The scoreboard said a loss, but the entire team played hard and we all knew that we would beat them on Sunday! Our boys, although disappointed in the loss, were ready for a night of swimming, socializing at a team dinner in the hotel.
Sunday game was very different. Our boys came out ready to win. We matched Orangeville's physical play and had a solid 3 periods of hard playing. In the end, we beat them 2-1. I am pretty sure the Orangeville players and parents were shocked at our game that night - this was their first loss of the entire playdowns. The cheering from the stands and the glass was loud and we were on our feet! The parents made sure those boys knew we were rooting for them, believed in them and were cheering for them with every second that passed on the scoreboard. Everyone was on their feet as the clock winded down and the final buzzer sounded! Windsor Junior Spits Atom AE tied the series!
The bus ride home was awesome, everyone was pumped. Coaches were beaming with pride and the excitement was seen all the way home.The parents and kids had a great time this entire weekend. The memories of this experience will be with these players for a lifetime!
Orangeville comes to Windsor Friday night to play us at 7:20pm at KNOX. Let's fill the arena with supporters with loud horns, big voices and a sea of green and black. I have arranged to have music before the game and during whistles - the excitement will be felt throughout the entire arena. This will be a game of great, fast paced hockey and a great atmosphere for us to bring home another win. We have a second game on Saturday at 2:00pm also at KNOX, this could be a deciding game. Come on out and support your Windsor Junior Spitfires Atom AE in their quest to wrap up the semi finals, on Saturday, with a win that will take us to the OMHA FINALS! Let`s show Orangeville what support we have in Windsor, filling the stands, with loud cheering fans, from our amazing hockey community. Go SPITS Go!
