    Defensive zone responsibilities #1
This video shows and describes the roles for each of the players that we are working towards when playing defense in our end. Please watch and understand what each player is doing and looking for not just your position.

    Defensive zone responsibilities #2
Same approach from Hockey Canada Notice the language of F1, F2, F3 and D1 and D2 as opposed to C, RW, LW, RD, LD. Part of atom hockey is moving away from robotic lane hockey to being aware of positional responsibilities and supporting teammates by filling in gaps

    Neutral Zone Regroup #1
Basic Neutral Zone regroup that we started to introduce this week. We are slowly working towards this. From Hockey Canada

    Neutral Zone Regroup #2
This is what we are working towards. We have just started the first progression of this this week. I want them to see the end game. They will or should recognize some of the things he talked about because we have already talked about it. Things like: 1. Defense being staggered to support 2. It is similar to a break out. 3. Being open to the pass.

How to set up the Attack Triangle
MUST WATCH! Listen for words that we have used with the players: 1. Take the puck wide!!! 2. Backside support & follow your pass 3. 3 man weave drill ( we did this for the first time last night in preparation for these concepts) 4. LW, RW, C roles in the defensive zone only

    Low Cycle #1
We briefly introduced the low cycle to the forwards at practice on Wednesday. There are many progressions to the low cycle but this one is the most basic and identical to what we were introducing. PLEASE HAVE EVERY PLAYER WATCH THIS VIDEO

    Low Cycle #2
This video shows a different low support position for F2 but is the exact same concept. This video also describes how the cycle works going the opposite direction which we haven't formally done. We have show them the movement earlier in the year just never referred to it as a cycle. THIS TOO IS ONE EVERYONE SHOULD WATCH

    High Cycle #1
This is a progression that I am doubtful we'll get to formally this year but would be great if we did. Please watch if possible

    Low Cycle #3
This is a long but great video on cycling.

    Timing and Support
We have talked about Timing and Support with the kids a bunch. They may or may not get it but seeing it from a different perspective will help

    2-1-2 Forecheck #1
MUST WATCH! This is how we have been informally asking the player to forecheck all season. We've kept it simple by asking for 2 guys on the buck. Maybe seeing it from a different perspective will be helpful for some

Defense pay attention. Coach Chris wants to you to watch this. Forwards and Goalies will benefit from it as well. Being a student of the game will make you better players

    Shooting Science
This one of my favourite videos on shooting. The part starting at 11m23s is about the wrist shot. The path (swing) the stick takes for good shooters vs poor shooters is something I observed years ago as a goalie. It is something I look for when watching players shoot.

    Stick sizing #1
This is a video I've debated many times on whether to post or not. Much of hockey has to do with personal preference but I believe too much leeway is given with respect to the stick. If I had it my way I would have everyone buy a cheap wood stick and have all the players cut it down and practice with it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qAOoLYZmgiQ
