Playdowns Round 2 Game1 Windsor 4 Essex 2
The Windsor Jr Spitfires played their first Playdown game on home ice against the Essex Ravens. Windsor had played this team twice in the regular season winning both games 20-1 and 8-0.
Essex came off a tough series win against the Belle River 2 team and are battle tested and ready!!
A healthy "Lets Go Windsor" starts us off right before puck drop.
Period 1
Right from the drop of the puck we could see that these Ravens were playing with a tenacity that was hard to match. Essex manages to get the first goal of the game after a scramble in front of our own net. Windsor battles right back and with a goal from Miller. . It's now tied and Essex is taking it to us during an Essex power play and drive another one home. Now down 2-1 we are feeling a bit of pressure. Still in the first Muxlow breaks through multiple Ravens to nail a top corner - all tied up!!! Now we are on the pk and Justin is in the corner and passes to Miller in front of the net and Windsor has it's first lead of the game in a game that is more competitive then anyone had thought.
Period 2
This period starts out with some back and forth play with Windsor hold a slight advantage in puck possession. Both team are giving their all but and WIndsor has to fight off a couple penalties but there is no scoring and we look forward to an exciting 3rd frame.
Period 3
The action is fast and furious as both teams are pushing for a goal. Windsor is surprised by Essex's drive and speed but continue to push the puck into the Essex zone. Windsor goes up with Boismier scoring from Brian Lyne. It's now 4-2 and Essex is not lying down but Windsor does not let too many opportunities get to the goal.
As the final buzzer goes Windsor is victorious but needed to work hard e very minute of the game against this Raven team.
