First Game of The Year
The team would like to thank Heather Dobransky for offering to write the new articles for the games this year.

The Regular Season has begun for Windsor's Atom Minor Hockey Team, and although the kids didn't do as well as they had probably hoped too, the excitement of our season ahead could be felt amongst the players, coaches, friends, and family members who were there to cheer this great group of kids on.

The team  faced off against the Belle River Canadiens. Windsor came out strong within the first five minutes but Belle River came to win and that unfortunately could be seen throughout the remainder of the game.  The final score was 7-1.

Games like these help to remind our kids that if you want to play travel hockey you need to bring your all to every practice and every game. From a parent's  perspective your child learns about a lot more then just hockey during a year of travel. They learn that they are not only playing for themselves, but that they are playing for 16 other teammates as well. They learn that their attitude affects their performance, and they gain the perspective of being on the losing end, which builds their abilities to demonstrate good sportsmanship. They learn that not only do they get to hang out with their friends 4 times  a week, but that the relationships they build on the team will be some of their most memorable and long lasting. And lastly, we can only hope that they learn that their parents are only making this huge time and financial commitment to give them an opportunity to increase their competence and skill level, to learn the values of being part of a team, and to enjoy the fine game of hockey at an advanced level.  Every game is a learning experience and let's hope that they learned alot from that one!
