Play Down #3 Windsor 6 Tecumseh 3
On January 23, 2016 The Windsor Jr. Spitfires went into the home rink of the Tecumseh Eagles to battle in their 3rd round robin game.
Windsor was battling the flu bug as one of their centermen was out ill and more battled the bug during the game.
Period 1
The puck drops and it is the speedy defenseman Wasy replacing ill centerman Justin Reinmeitz, who is home with a fever. Windsor drives into the Tecumseh zone and Tecumseh immediately turns it around and drives down the ice. The Tecumseh forwards shoot on Mila and the puck is loose. Tecumseh bang away at the puck almost uncontested and the puck goes in. We are down 0-1. Later Windsor push the puck in to the Tecumseh zone. Muxlow takes it into corner and whips it to Knowler and he shoots, it is saved. Later, Muxlow shoots from way back and hits the cross bar. Now it is the Wasy line with all kinds of pressure on Tecumseh as Hotham passes to Miller and it is saved. Now another chance for Windsor as Muxlow again passes to Knowler and it is saved again. Tecumseh pushes the puck to the Windsor zone and it is stolen by Muxlow who drives down the ice and beats the Tecumseh defenders and heads toward the netminder and beats him through the 5 hole with a backhand. 1-1. The period ends and we are all tied up.
Period 2
There puck is in the Windsor zone and Vankuren takes it up ice and moves it up to Muxlow. Muxlow bounces it off the boards and takes it in and beat the goalie glove side. 2-1 Windsor. Now Miller is stopped after a pass from Wasy. Later Muxlow gets another break and beat the Tecumseh goalie. 3-0. Tecumseh fights back as a speedy forward sneak through our defender and slides it in off the right pad. 3-2 Windsor. Immediately after Wasy wins the face off and Miller grabs it and skates right in, jukes and jives and he scores. We are up 4-2. The period ends and we head to the 3rd.
Period 3
Windsor is controlling the game but Tecumseh does have their moments. Muxlow break to the net and is stopped. Boismier receives a beautiful pass from Lester and drives in and is stopped. Knowler shoots a boomer and is stopped. Later, Lester bangs a one timer and it is saved. Knowler is later stopped. Tecumseh has the puck and Windsor is on a change. The puck moves in to the Windsor zone and Tecumseh score and the score is 4-3. All kinds of chances for Windsor as Knowler is set up by Muxlow and he nails it top cheese. 5-3 Windsor. Windsor continues the pressure but can’t score. Finally Tecumseh pull their goalie and Lester gets it and scores. 6-3. Tecumseh pressure and a skater moves in after the play and is decked by a Windsor defender who understands what it means to protect the house. The game ends and Windsor is victorious.
Lets hope all kids are 100% for tomorrow’s game
