Hockey Notes - Upcoming Events
Well, now that everyone is back at school, let me wish you a successful and fulfilling school year.  Whether entering grades 8 or 9, this year can be both challenging and extremely rewarding.  Add being part of a very good hockey team, and it can be a great year all around.  Just remember, as players, students, and parents: "Hard work pays off.  It may not today, tomorrow, or next week . . . but it will."

And now, just a few items regarding opportunities to be able to see that work paying off, in a hockey framework.

First up, at Budweiser Gardens in London, is the 2016 NHLRookie Tournament from September 16-18.  Rookie teams from the Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, and Pittsburgh organizations will be playing several games that weekend.  I know everyone has a busy schedule, but in case you're interested, the Spitfires Logan Brown will be there for the Senators, with Hayden McCool and Mikhail Sergachev for the Canadiens.  Here's the link to the applicable information -

Next, the Spitfires begin their regular season September 22nd at home against Erie.  That should be a great game, given Erie's success the last few years, and Windsor's promise of a Memorial Cup worthy team.

As well, the University of Windsor Lancers men's and women's hockey teams will begin their respective regular seasons soon.  The men usually play Friday and Saturday night home games at the newly refurbished South Windsor Recreational Complex, and begin their regular season October 7th vs U of Toronto.  The women inaugurate a new season October 13th vs U of Western Ontario at South Windsor.  If you haven't seen a university game, it's very much worth your time.  As entertainment value goes, it's inexpensive, and allows the chance to see some very good quality hockey.  On the men's team alone, a third of the players were veterans of the Canadian Hockey League.
