Blue Water Game #17 Windsor 3 Essex 4
The Windsor Jr Spits hosted the Essex Ravens at SWA in an important game to keep the momentum going for a shot at the Blue Water title. A BROKEN NOSE put us at a disadvantage right out of the gate.

One of our centers, Elliot Lester suffered a terrible injury and had to be restrained from tying up his skates tonight in order to recover from his injury.

His absence was sorely felt as we scrambled our lines to accommodate the loss of one of our valued centerman.

Period 1

The puck drops and Windsor is carrying the action. The boys are moving the puck extremely well, opening up the Essex defense but do not capitalize on any chances. Later Essex turns the pressure on to the Jr Spits and we are called for a penalty. While on the PK our we allow the first goal against. The rest of the period is evenly played and with the score 0-1 Essex

Period 2

The game is fast as both teams have improved as the season has moved on. Essex scores again on our boys and things are starting to look desperate for us down 0-2. We have our chances but do not score and Essex gets a third go ahead on us and it seems hopeless. This broken nose is killing us!! Finally we get some life as some adjustments are made. Windsor begins to pressure the Ravens even though the Raven crowd is beaming with confidence. A Windsor center goes through 4 players only to yield by the goal tender. Again Windsor dominates action as Miller scores in front of the net from Muxlow and Knowler. 3-1 Essex. Windsor continues the pressure and it is a one way game as Essex has the puck in their own zone for most the remainder of the period. AT the end of 2 it is Essex 3 Windsor 1

Period 3

Windsor keeps the pressure on and Essex fights back but cannot keep Windsor's greater desire at bay. A Windsor centerman rushes the net and takes his time with the goal tender easing the puck around his pad and it is 3-2 Ravens. Now Wasy has it from behind the net. He looks but his speed is at top stride. He's going to make a go of it. Wasy threads the D and it is just him and the goalie. Wasy makes his move but the Ravens' goalie will not be broken. Essex turns things around and force the play in the Windsor zone on a WIndsor PK. and boom - it is in. Now Windsor is down by 2 and have 11 minutes to right the score. 21 hits the post. Another shot is saved by the Essex net minder. Now Windsor is on the PP and Muxlow races to the net and cannot finish but Reimeitz is right there to put us just a goal behind. Windsor keeps more pressure on and are quite dominant but cannot score. Windsor pulls the goalie and are penalized evening up the forward. The puck drops and Windsor cannot get anything going as the buzzer sounds. It is all over!!

Windsor loses 4-3 and also lose the season series to Essex 2-1. Where do we go from here? It is a tough road ahead and first place is likely un reachable with this defeat. We have just 4 regular season games and will have a chance to find our way at a tounament in Barrie just before play downs.  We just may need to pull out all the stops to get to the next level.

Come on Spits!! We believe!!
